Hainan Province
On December 1, 2024, Hainan Province will welcome a major environmental protection measure - the "Decision of the Standing Committee of the Hainan Provincial People's Congress on Amending the Regulations on Prohibiting Disposable Non Degradable Plastic Products in Hainan Special Economic Zone" (hereinafter referred to as the "Decision") will officially come into effect.
It further clarifies the regulatory responsibilities of government departments and the main responsibilities of producers and operators of disposable plastic products. At the same time, based on the actual supervision and law enforcement situation of plastic ban work, relevant regulations have been optimized to make them more targeted and operable.
Zhejiang Province
The Zhejiang Provincial Development and Reform Commission, in collaboration with multiple departments, has launched the "Zhejiang Province Action Plan for Replacing Plastic with Bamboo", aiming to promote green transformation. The plan encourages government agencies at all levels, public institutions, and large state-owned enterprises to actively adopt "bamboo instead of plastic" products in offices, conferences, canteens, and other places, and give priority to choosing such environmentally friendly products when upgrading. This measure not only helps reduce plastic pollution, but also responds positively to the concept of sustainable development.
Anhui Province
Recently, the Department of Justice of Anhui Province solicited public opinions on the draft of the Anhui Provincial Regulations on the Operation and Guarantee of Government Agencies. The draft proposes that all levels of government agencies should practice the concept of green development, advocate green, low-carbon, simple and moderate work methods, strengthen the construction of conservation oriented agencies, play a leading role in demonstration, and stop using non degradable disposable plastic products. The time for soliciting opinions this time is from September 30th to October 29th, 2024.
Hong Kong Special Administrative Region
The strictest "plastic ban" in the history of Hong Kong, China has officially come into effect! In the first stage, Hong Kong began to regulate disposable plastic tableware and other plastic products. The disposable rubber tableware includes: foam tableware (foam box), straw, plastic tableware (knife and fork), mixing rod, cup cover, food container, food container cover, dishes and cups. In addition, some types of daily necessities are also prohibited from being provided and sold for free, including cotton swabs with rubber handles, umbrella bags, and toothpicks. This is only the first stage, and some tableware has not been banned from sale. In the second stage, it is completely 'three prohibitions'.
